Aneal Tenjarla is a Partner and Associate Portfolio Manager for Sofinnova BioEquities, concentrating on public investments in global biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical technology companies, with more than ten years in public healthcare investing. Before joining Sofinnova in 2019, he spent five years as a Senior Analyst at Citadel managing a healthcare-focused portfolio, and earlier worked as an Analyst at Point72 covering healthcare and as an investment banker at Greenhill focused on healthcare M&A. He holds an M.S. in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins and a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Chris Carpenter is an oncology physician-scientist with over two decades of clinical and laboratory experience who joined Sofinnova in 2022, focusing on clinical-stage product companies in oncology, rare diseases, and specialty therapeutics. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer at CatamaranBio and Rubius Therapeutics, and led cancer epigenetics at GlaxoSmithKline as well as drug development work at Merck. He holds a B.S. from Stanford University and M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Southern California, and is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

David Kabakoff is a medicinal chemist with more than 30 years of experience leading technology and product development in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and drug delivery fields. Before joining Sofinnova in 2007, he co-founded the cancer drug developer Salmedix, serving as Chairman and CEO until its acquisition by Cephalon, and previously held executive roles at Dura, Spiros Development, Corvas International, and Hybritech. He holds a PhD from Yale University and a BA from Case Western Reserve University.

Jakob Dupont is a physician with over two decades of experience in oncology and other therapeutic areas, focused on developing therapies for high unmet medical needs. Before joining Sofinnova in 2023, he held senior R&D and medical leadership roles at Atara Biotherapeutics, Gossamer Bio, Genentech/Roche, and OncoMed Pharmaceuticals. He earned his M.D. from Cornell University's Weill Medical College and an M.A. in philosophy from New York University, and completed his oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Jim Healy has spent about twenty years investing at Sofinnova, backing thirty-two companies in the biotechnology and healthcare space, many of which have gone public or been acquired. He holds a B.A. in Molecular Biology and a B.A. in Scandinavian Studies from UC Berkeley, and earned his MD and PhD in Immunology from Stanford University through the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program. Before Sofinnova, he worked at Bayer (Miles) and Sanderling, and has lectured on entrepreneurship at Stanford.

Maha Katabi is a PhD in Pharmacology and CFA who built crossover public/private biotech investing platforms, focuses on clinical‑stage single‑asset radiopharmaceutical and targeted oncology companies, and chairs Exactis Innovation.

Maha Radhakrishnan is an industry executive with decades of experience in product development, commercialization, and global medical strategy across biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Before joining Sofinnova in 2024, she served as Consultant to the CEO at Dyne Therapeutics, Chief Medical Officer at Biogen, and Senior Vice President and Global Head of Medical for the Primary Care Business Unit at Sanofi, with earlier leadership roles at Bioverativ, Bristol Myers Squibb, United Health Group, and Cephalon. She holds an M.D. in internal medicine from the People's Friendship University in Moscow and a master's degree in Russian language.

Nathalie Auber has more than twenty years of private equity experience across financial reporting, operations, and deal structuring, and works with the investment team on financings, exit strategy, and valuations. She leads Sofinnova's Finance & Accounting team and administrative functions, having joined the firm in 1996. Earlier in her career she served as Director of Internal Audit at Catellus Development and spent seven years as an auditor with Deloitte and Touche in Paris and San Francisco.

Sarah Bhagat, with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Yale and psychiatry postdoc at Stanford, is a hands-on, board-active partner focused on scientifically ambitious therapeutics like gene therapy, immuno-oncology and CNS conditions.

Noel Jee is a Partner at Novo Holdings who brings a background in chemical biology and management consulting to life science investing. He focuses on solutions in disease biology and conducts deep diligence involving scientific and financial analysis.

Alex Chan joined Sofinnova's Finance Department in 2013 as Senior Accountant and became Controller in 2021, handling the day-to-day accounting for the firm and its funds. Before Sofinnova, he worked at an international public accounting firm providing assurance and advisory services to public and private companies in the IT and biotech sectors. He holds a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and is a Certified Public Accountant in California.

Anastasia Voevodin joined Sofinnova BioEquities as an Analyst in 2024, where she focuses on public biotech investments. She previously worked as a Senior Research Associate at Avoro Capital covering public biotech, and as a management consultant at ZS Associates serving biotech clients. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from Columbia University and a BA in Chemistry with a Biomedical Engineering Science minor from Boston University.

Calvin Sternick joined Sofinnova BioEquities as an Analyst in 2026, working on public investments in healthcare services. He previously worked as an Analyst at Millennium Management covering areas such as contract research organizations, hospitals, laboratories, and managed care organizations, and served as Vice President of Managed Care & Facilities Equity Research at JPMorgan Chase. Earlier roles included healthcare equity research at TD Cowen and FBR Capital Markets and a structured finance valuation position at EY; he holds a B.S. in Accounting from Binghamton University.

Debbie Murray joined Sofinnova as Chief People Officer in 2020, where she leads strategic and operational initiatives tied to business performance goals. She previously served as Chief People Officer at BlueJeans Network and as Vice President at DataStax, Inc., where she oversaw human resources and business administration during the company's early growth. She holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of San Diego.

Eric Hsu joined Sofinnova as an Analyst in 2025, focusing on biopharmaceutical company investments across multiple disease areas and therapeutic modalities. He earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University, where his research in Dr. Dwight Bergles' lab used microscopy methods to study non-neuronal cell signaling in the brain and the effects of ketamine on that signaling. He previously held a BA in Neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis and served as a Venture Fellow for Insight Partners and Sofinnova.

Gina Baker joined Sofinnova in 2022 as a Compliance/Operations Manager, handling operations for Sofinnova BioEquities and helping oversee firm compliance. She previously served as Senior Finance Manager of the public equities division at Vista Equity Partners and has held compliance, finance, and operations roles at investment firms including SPO Partners and Apex Capital. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration with emphases in Accounting and Corporate Management from California State University, Hayward.

Hooman Shahlavi handles legal matters at Sofinnova, including the structuring, negotiation, and execution of initial and follow-on investments, restructurings, major corporate transactions, exits, and wind-downs, as well as compliance, fund formation, and risk and director liability issues. He joined the firm in 2007 after practicing as an attorney at O'Melveny & Myers (2003-2007) and Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, where he worked on venture capital, M&A, and public offering transactions. He holds a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and a B.S. in Business Administration from San Jose State University.

Jim Brody joined Sofinnova in 2016 as Chief Compliance Officer for the firm and Chief Operating Officer for Sofinnova BioEquities. He previously served as Chief Compliance Officer and Managing Director of Operations at Apex Capital, LLC, and held earlier roles at Pershing, Nollenberger Capital Partners, Wells Fargo Securities, and Robertson Stephens. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco and a B.S. from the University of Oregon.

John Barrett is a Senior Analyst at Sofinnova BioEquities, where he works on public biotech investments across all therapeutic areas. He previously worked as a biotech analyst at Parkman Healthcare Partners covering SMid cap therapeutic areas and at Leerink covering SMid cap oncology. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Engineering from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University.

Jonathan Leff is a physician with over 25 years of clinical development experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, advising companies on drug development from target identification through market approval. Before joining Sofinnova in 2020, he was SVP and Chief Medical Officer of Ascendis Pharma, EVP of Research and Development at InterMune (where he led development and US approval of Esbriet for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis), and held CMO roles at KaloBios Pharmaceuticals and Halozyme Therapeutics, plus positions at Roche, Amgen, and Merck. He holds a B.A. in Chemistry and an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed training in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado, Denver.

Kathy Du joined Sofinnova in 2025 as Vice President of Finance for the Public Equity team, overseeing the financial operations of Sofinnova Public Markets. She previously served as Chief Financial Officer at One01 Capital and held controller roles at Paradigm and Passport Capital. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis from the University of California, Berkeley, and is an inactive Certified Public Accountant.

Katrin Viller joined Sofinnova as Vice President of Finance in 2024, where she oversees the financial aspects of Sofinnova Venture funds. She previously served as Head of Finance at Kleiner Perkins and held several roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Estonia and San Jose, including auditing asset management and life science clients. She holds a B.A. in International Business from Estonian Business School and is a Certified Public Accountant in California.

Lars Ekman is a global R&D executive and drug developer with more than 30 years of experience across executive, scientific, and clinical roles, and he brings his life science background to the investment team. Before joining Sofinnova in 2008, he was President of Research and Development at Elan, having earlier held R&D leadership at Schwarz Pharma AG and various senior scientific and clinical roles at Pharmacia (now Pfizer). He earned his MD and PhD from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and is a board-certified surgeon with a PhD in Experimental Biology.

Mike Van joined Sofinnova as an Analyst in 2022 and became an Associate in 2024, where he focuses on biopharmaceutical companies and investments. He earned a PhD in Biology from Stanford University, working in Lacramiora Bintu's lab on CRISPR-based epigenome editing tools, and holds a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Davis. During his time at Stanford he was a venture fellow at Sofinnova and consulted in roles at biotech companies including Maze Therapeutics, Octant, and Wearlinq.

Naomi Pacalin joined Sofinnova as an Analyst and became an Associate in 2025, where she works on biopharmaceutical company investments across multiple disease areas and therapeutic modalities. She holds a PhD in Bioengineering from Stanford University, where her research in Howard Chang's lab covered epigenomics and gene regulation using CRISPR epigenetic editing and single-cell sequencing. She also earned a BS in Biological Chemistry and a BA in Chemistry from the University of Chicago, and previously served as a Sofinnova Venture Fellow.

Nick Lenard joined Sofinnova BioEquities as an Analyst in 2025, where he works on public investments in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies globally. He previously spent over four years on the sell side covering SMid and Large Cap Biotechnology, most recently as a Vice President at J.P. Morgan. He holds an M.A. in Biotechnology from Columbia University and a B.A. in Chemistry from Kenyon College.

Paul Chang is an Analyst who joined Sofinnova BioEquities in 2025, where he works on public investments in medical technology and diagnostics. He previously served as an Investment Associate at TPG Growth, sourcing healthcare investments and supporting portfolio companies, and before that was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs covering healthcare M&A and financing. He holds a BS in Finance with a minor in English Literature from New York University.

Perry Nisen is a physician scientist with experience in drug discovery and development, focusing on pre-clinical and clinical companies in oncology, neuroscience, and immunology/inflammation. He joined Sofinnova in 2018 and previously served as CEO of the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and held senior roles at GlaxoSmithKline, including SVP of Science and Innovation, interim Chief Medical Officer, and Oncology Therapy Area Head, as well as a cancer research leadership role at Abbott Laboratories. He earned a BS from Stanford University and an MD/PhD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Ray Bower joined Sofinnova in 2022 as Portfolio Manager of the Synergy Fund, concentrating on biotechnology and therapeutics. His earlier career included work as a medical director of a primary care clinic and in biologic product strategy at Centocor, followed by sell-side work at Citigroup, a partner and analyst role covering healthcare at Lee Munder Capital Group in Boston, running a biotech portfolio at TIAA CREF, and serving as Principal at Adenium Research. He holds a Bachelor of Medical Science and an M.D. from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Seth Filbrun joined Sofinnova as an Associate in 2026 with Sofinnova BioEquities, where he works on public biotech investments. He previously worked as an Equity Research Associate at Stifel Financial covering small- and mid-cap biotech companies in immunology & inflammation and endocrinology, and before that as a Senior Consultant at Simon Kucher. He holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Georgia State University, an M.S. in Chemistry from Illinois State University, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Miami University.

Smita Chowdhri joined Sofinnova BioEquities as a Controller in 2026, handling accounting and finance for the public equity team. She previously served as Controller at Intrinsic Edge Capital Management and held roles at Gen II Fund Services, Jump Trading, Jump Capital, Wolverine Asset Management, and Navigant Consulting, where her work spanned fund accounting, investor reporting, regulatory compliance, and forensic accounting. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Accounting, and Business Process Management from Indiana University and is a CPA in Illinois.

Surin Kim joined Sofinnova in 2021 as a Financial Analyst, handling fund accounting and tax matters. He previously worked as a Tax Senior at BDO USA, LLP, focusing on tax issues related to alternative investments, and earlier served as a private banker at Mirae Asset Securities (Daewoo Securities) in South Korea. He holds a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Inha University.
