Mark HeimaninCSO2010–2018Dr. Mark Heiman earned a Ph.D. in Physiology from LSU School of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training in neuroendocrinology at Indiana University School of Medicine before working at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he co-invented the drug Lanreotide for treating pituitary adenomas. At Eli Lilly Research Labs starting in 1987, he led metabolic physiology research on obesity and energy regulation, including foundational work on leptin and ghrelin signaling, before retiring in 2009 as Chief Scientific Officer of Obesity Research and co-founding Microbiome Therapeutics.
