He previously worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company in its utilities and renewables practice, and held roles at Powerhouse Ventures and Crux, a capital markets platform for transferable tax credit and debt financing for clean energy and manufacturing projects. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from UC Berkeley and a B.S. in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business.
Eileen McMahon has been with Prelude Ventures since its founding, starting as the investment team's first assistant and later moving into an Operations role supporting the firm and its portfolio. She earned a B.A. in English Literature from Fordham University and previously worked in the music industry at RCA Records and in game development at Electronic Arts. She grew up in the Bay Area and spent time in New York City.
Juan Pablo Soulier has over 15 years of experience building and scaling climate-related systems across mobility, infrastructure, energy, and AI. He has held senior leadership roles at Tesla, Waymo, and Rivian, and co-founded Vammo, a Latin American battery-swapping company for electric two-wheelers. He is also an angel investor and advisor to climate and deep-tech startups, and holds a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering with a focus on renewables from Chimie ParisTech.
Julia Yan joined Prelude Ventures as a Senior Associate in 2026. She previously spent nearly four years as CEO and co-founder of Baleena, a climate tech and fashion startup that built hardware to help brands track and manage material deterioration in their supply chains, and earlier worked as a summer associate at Strategy& and in business development and customer research at an early-stage healthtech startup, beginning her career in the insulating materials lab at Doble Engineering. She holds a B.S.E. in Materials Science & Engineering with a minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania.
Katie Clasen is a Principal at Prelude Ventures, which she joined in 2023. She previously held process integration engineering, product development, and product management roles at battery materials startup Sila Nanotechnologies, and began her career as a process engineer at Royal Dutch Shell. She holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management, and got her start in venture capital as a fellow at Buoyant Ventures.
Katy Young joined Prelude Ventures in 2022 as Chief Financial Officer, having previously served as CFO for other private equity and venture capital firms. Earlier in her career she worked as an investment professional at Champlain Capital Partners and Putnam Investments, and began in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte. She holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from UCLA, and has an inactive CPA license.
Matt Eggers began his career in biotech, leading the commercial launch of a cancer drug at Genentech, before moving into climate technology. He spent about 15 years in operations, sales, product, finance, and marketing leadership roles at companies including Sunrun, Bloom Energy, and Tesla, then invested in early-stage climatetech at Breakthrough Energy Ventures, where he backed grid, aerospace, buildings, and SaaS companies. He joined Prelude Ventures in 2023 and holds a B.S. in molecular biology from Duke University and an MBA from Stanford.
Tim Woodward targets industrial technologies that lower costs and environmental impact in mining, energy storage, climate insurance, backing sensor-based ore sorting, second-life batteries and grid-level storage, geothermal and advanced solar.
Urwashi Govindji joined Prelude Ventures as an Executive Assistant in 2022.
