Technology

AMP's platform uses deep learning and computer vision that continuously trains on millions of material images, applying pattern recognition of color, texture, shape, size, opacity, and brand logos to identify recyclables and contaminants in real time. This perception layer guides robotic arm sortation (Delta) and high-speed air-jet sortation (Jet, MicroJet), with Vision providing continuous material characterization and AMP Clarity providing material data classification for MRFs. The company reports its AI has identified 150 billion items and guided sortation of more than 2.5 million tons of recyclables.

History

One source dates the company's founding to 2014. Its first products were retrofit robotic sorting systems for existing recycling facilities; it later developed next-generation facility-scale systems and expanded into municipal solid waste sorting. AMP first partnered with investor Valor in 2020 and closed a 24-system contract with Waste Connections that year. In 2024 it augmented its leadership team, appointing Tim Stuart, former chief operating officer of Republic Services, as CEO, with founder Matanya Horowitz moving to chief technology officer, and closed a $91 million Series D in December 2024.
