Investment thesis
Energy Transition Ventures focuses on the emerging global shift in energy production and consumption, driven by sharp cost declines in solar, wind and storage, the application of networking, computing and AI to the energy sector, the consumerization of energy, and decarbonization by countries, corporations and consumers. The firm believes these forces disrupt incumbents across large parts of the economy and create openings for new entrants. Investment focus areas include distributed energy (distributed generation, smart buildings/cities, demand flexibility, virtual power plants), electrification (renewables, smart grid, energy storage, building electrification), mobility (EVs, EV infrastructure, hydrogen), resource efficiency (carbon capture, waste-to-energy) and enabling technologies such as AI, IoT and blockchain.
