Opus Capital

Gill Cogan is a General Partner at Opus Capital with over 25 years of venture capital experience in software, communications, and semiconductors. Before Opus, he was a founding partner and Managing Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners and Managing General Partner at Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners, and earlier ran the West Coast operations of Adler & Company and helped form an early independent Israeli venture fund. He previously served as CEO of Formtek Inc. and holds an MBA from UCLA.

Joseph Cutts brings 25 years of financial and operational leadership across multiple industries. From 1997 to 2007 he was an executive officer at Electronics for Imaging (NASDAQ:EFII), holding roles including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and previously spent 11 years in finance and accounting roles at Hills Bros. Coffee and Nestle Beverage Company. He holds a finance degree from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master's from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Phil Greer has decades of venture capital experience and was a founding partner of Weiss, Peck & Greer in 1971, where he provided ongoing leadership. He was an early investor in and director of Federal Express Corporation from 1974 to 2008. Before founding Weiss, Peck & Greer, he worked at White, Weld & Co. and A.G. Becker & Co. He holds an AB from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Serge Plotkin is a venture partner at Opus Capital, where he sources and evaluates investments and provides technical support to portfolio companies. He is an associate professor of Computer Science at Stanford University (since 1989) and co-founded the storage encryption company Decru in 2001 with Opus Capital's Dan Avida, serving as CTO and VP of engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT and BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ben Gurion University, and has published over a hundred technical papers and holds fourteen patents.

Daniel C. Kurtzer is a former U.S. diplomat who served in the Senior Foreign Service until retiring in December 2005, with roles including U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research. He holds the S. Daniel Abraham Chair in Middle East Policy Studies at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School. He earned a BA from Yeshiva University and a PhD from Columbia University.

John Thompson is Chairman of the Board of TD Bank Financial Group and the retired Vice Chairman of the IBM Board of Directors. During a career at IBM from 1966 to 2004, he held roles including CEO of IBM Canada, Corporate Vice President of Marketing, and Group Executive over the company's worldwide software and server businesses. He holds a degree in Engineering Science and has completed executive programs at the University of Western Ontario and Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Business.

Judith Estrin is a technology entrepreneur and executive who currently serves as CEO of JLABS, LLC and previously led Packet Design, LLC. She was Chief Technology Officer of Cisco Systems from 1998 to 2000 after Cisco acquired her company Precept Software, and earlier co-founded Bridge Communications, Network Computing Devices, and Precept Software. She authored "Closing the Innovation Gap" (2008) and holds a B.S. in math and computer science from UCLA and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford.

Regis McKenna founded Regis McKenna, Inc., a high tech marketing firm, more than 35 years ago; the firm worked with early-stage technology companies including America Online, Apple Computer, Electronic Arts, Genentech, Intel, National Semiconductor, Silicon Graphics, and 3Com. Retired from active consulting since 2000, he now works as a seed investor in high tech ventures and has authored five books on technology marketing. He is a founding member of Santa Clara University's Center for Science, Technology & Society and a trustee of the university.

Richard M. Rosenberg is the retired chairman and CEO of Bank of America, a role he held from 1990 to 1996 after joining the company in 1987. Before that, he spent 22 years at Wells Fargo Bank, ending as Vice-Chairman and Director. He holds a BS from Suffolk University and both MBA and JD degrees from Golden Gate University, and is a retired commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Sam Nunn is Co-Chairman and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, an organization focused on reducing threats from nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. He served as a United States Senator from Georgia for 24 years (1972-1996) and previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives, and is retired from the law firm King & Spalding. He is a professor at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech and chairman of the board of the Center for Strategic and International Studies; he studied at Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Emory Law School.

Sanford R. Robertson helped establish the West Coast technology banking industry beginning in the late 1960s. He founded Robertson, Coleman, Siebel & Weisel (later Montgomery Securities) and in 1978 founded Robertson, Stephens & Company, a technology investment bank he chaired until its sale to BankAmerica in 1998. He is a principal with Francisco Partners, a technology buyout fund, and holds BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan.
