Overture Climate

Shomik Dutta is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Overture Ventures, with roughly two decades of experience spanning venture capital, climate, and government. He previously founded and ran Higher Ground Labs, an accelerator and venture fund focused on campaign and government technology, and earlier worked in the Obama White House as Mid-Atlantic Finance Director and a Special Assistant, later advising the FCC Chairman and overseeing utility-scale solar development across Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BA from Williams College, and has been a Technology Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics.

Tamim Mourad is a technology entrepreneur and co-founder and Venture Partner at Overture. He co-founded the direct-to-consumer personalized beauty company eSalon and previously founded and served as CEO of the comparison shopping site PriceGrabber, which sold to Experian in 2005; he also founded D2 Systems, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Emma McDonagh is Partner and COO at Overture, which she joined as its first employee in 2022. She previously worked at Powerhouse, a digital-first energy and infrastructure fund, where she led company operations and supported strategic initiatives for corporate and investor partners, and was named a 2023 Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) Fellow. Earlier in her career she led design and architecture teams on a Department of Energy award-winning net-zero elementary school project and held roles at a food and agriculture accelerator and Historic New England. She holds a B.A. from Middlebury College.

Leila Pirbay joined Overture Ventures in 2025 to back founders working on decarbonization. She began her career at Stripe, where she worked on European expansion and led the company's entry into Italy, and later spent two years at EQT Ventures focused on early- and growth-stage software investments across the US and Europe. She holds a bachelor's in Anthropology and Economics from Harvard, an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business, and an MPA from Harvard's Kennedy School.

Allison Hinckley is a chemical engineer who has spent over 15 years working at the intersection of technical innovation and climate. She joined Overture Ventures as a Senior Principal in 2024, having previously served as the lead investor in climate tech, materials/manufacturing, and computing at Fine Structure Ventures, a deep tech fund. Earlier in her career she worked at technology startups as a team lead, contributor, and consultant across advanced nuclear, indoor farming, HVAC, and biochar. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Stanford, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from MIT.

Julius Genachowski is a Venture Partner at Overture with a background spanning public service and the private sector in technology, media, and telecommunications. He chaired the Federal Communications Commission from 2009 to 2013, where he oversaw the first U.S. National Broadband Plan and work on broadband access, digital media rules, and internet policy. Earlier he was a senior executive at IAC and clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter; he holds degrees from Columbia College and Harvard Law School.

Liron Gitig is a Venture Partner at Overture Ventures with over twenty years of experience investing in growth-stage technology companies. He previously spent 18 years at FTV Capital, a growth equity firm, where he led the Enterprise Software team, and earlier handled software investments at Lazard Technology Partners, Giza GE Venture Fund, and BRM Capital. Before venture capital, he was VP of corporate development at Fundtech Corporation and began his career as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers; he holds a BS from the Wharton School and a joint JD/MBA from Columbia Law and Business Schools, and serves as a Senior Advisor to the Environmental Defense Fund.

Rohan Patel is a Venture Partner at Overture Ventures with a career spanning the government, non-profit, and corporate sectors. He was most recently Vice President of global public policy and business development at Tesla, overseeing regulatory, policy, site selection, and business development work. Earlier he served as special assistant to President Barack Obama and senior advisor for climate and energy policy, held roles at the White House Council on Environmental Quality and the US Department of Agriculture, and worked on the Obama presidential campaign and for Iowa and Indiana officials.
