Investment thesis
As Canada's export credit agency and a Crown corporation, EDC's mandate under Canada's Export Development Act is to support and develop Canada's export trade and Canadian capacity to engage in it, and to respond to international business opportunities. It provides financing, insurance, guarantees, equity investments and market intelligence to help Canadian companies of all sizes grow beyond borders. EDC emphasizes responsible and sustainable trade practices and aims to enhance Canada's competitiveness internationally. Through its subsidiary FinDev Canada, it also supports inclusive private sector growth and sustainability in developing markets. It operates with commercial principles while being financially self-sustaining, working in partnership with financial institutions and the Government of Canada.
