DFJ

John H. N. Fisher is a co-founder of DFJ and DFJ Growth. He entered the venture capital industry in 1985 at ABS Ventures, where he focused on enterprise software and services, and earlier worked in technology finance at Alex. Brown & Sons.

Mark Bailey is a founder of DFJ Growth, where he has worked since 2002 focusing on helping portfolio companies scale. He began his career at HP's optoelectronics division and later led M&A as an executive and corporate officer at Symantec and Healtheon/WebMD, co-founded WebPartner, and was an executive at Portal Software. Earlier in his career he was one of the first associates at Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers and a general partner at Venrock Associates; he holds a BSE in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Randy Glein co-founded DFJ Growth to invest in innovative companies that have achieved market validation and are scaling rapidly, drawing on 35 years of experience as an investor, entrepreneur, engineer, and operating executive. He previously invested with Tribune Ventures and Hughes New Ventures, served as CFO of FeedBurner (later acquired by Google), and held roles at DIRECTV, Hughes Space & Communications, and Martin Marietta. He holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson, an MSEE from the University of Southern California, and a BSEE from the University of Florida.

Jocelyn Kinsey is a partner at DFJ Growth, which she joined in 2014. Before that, she worked with J.P. Morgan's Alternative Investments Group in New York, focusing on the placement, diligence, and structuring of private equity, venture capital, real estate, and hedge fund products.

Justin Kao is a partner at DFJ Growth who invests in companies transforming human health. He co-founded Helix in 2015, serving as founding CEO and later chief business officer, where he led partnerships with health systems, payers, and life sciences companies and worked on the company's COVID-19 diagnostic testing efforts. Before DFJ Growth, he was a partner at Khosla Ventures and an investor at Warburg Pincus, and earlier worked at Boston Consulting Group and Onyx Pharmaceuticals. He holds a BS in chemical engineering and MS in bioengineering from Stanford, plus a JD from Stanford Law School and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Kevin Tu is a Partner at DFJ Growth, which he joined in 2017. Trained as a software engineer, he previously worked at J.P. Morgan in M&A and technology investment banking and at Summit Partners as a growth investor, and built products for Amazon, Pebble, and early-stage startups. He also served as interim head of FP&A at Cohesity, and holds a computer science degree from MIT.

Sam Fort is a Partner at DFJ Growth, which he joined in 2010, focusing on enterprise applications and infrastructure, fintech, and blockchain technology. He previously worked on TPG Capital's technology team investing in late-stage technology companies, and earlier at Morgan Stanley's investment banking team on technology, media, and telecom M&A and IPOs. He holds a BSE in electrical engineering and a BA in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.

Chris Shanahan is a principal on the investment team at DFJ Growth, focusing on companies at the intersection of hardware and software—such as defensetech, autonomy, energy, robotics, and smart systems—as well as lifetech. He joined the firm in February 2018 and previously served as a DFJ Growth Fellow embedded at Neuralink in 2022. Before that, he was an analyst at Greenhill & Co. working on mergers and acquisitions and held R&D engineering roles at Boston Scientific's neuromodulation division and Johnson & Johnson's Acclarent division. He holds a bachelor of science with honors in biomedical engineering from Cal Poly.

Will Morrison joined DFJ Growth as a principal in 2024, bringing more than a decade of experience across finance, technology, and innovation. He was previously a principal at In-Q-Tel, where he led investments and held board seats in early and growth stage companies in cybersecurity, machine learning, compute infrastructure, and aerospace and defense. Earlier in his career he worked on Goldman Sachs' technology investment banking team, at Breakthrough Energy Ventures as a Columbia Three Cairns Climate Fellow, and at ExxonMobil; he holds a chemical engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Max Sirenko is a venture partner at DFJ Growth, which he rejoined in 2024 after first working there as an associate in 2013. He spent roughly a decade in product management and engineering roles at SpaceX, where he worked on bringing up the Starlink network, and at Mapbox, where he led product strategy and business operations. Earlier he was an investment banker at Citigroup, and he holds a BS in economics and computer science from Duke University.

Ramin Sayar joined DFJ Growth as a venture partner in 2024, bringing 25 years of infrastructure software product and operations experience as a product manager, executive, and CEO. He was president and CEO of Sumo Logic, which he grew from $10 million to over $300 million in revenue through its 2020 IPO and 2023 acquisition by a private equity firm, and previously held roles at VMware, HP Software, Tibco Software, iPlanet Software, and Netscape Communications. He holds a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara and an MBA from San Jose State University.

Angel Duan is an associate at DFJ Growth. Before joining the firm, she worked in PJT Partners' Technology Strategic Advisory Group as an investment banker, covering software sectors such as cybersecurity, IoT, supply chain and related infrastructure, along with consumer media and fintech. She graduated from the University of Southern California with studies in business administration and computer science, where she helped launch the school's first student-led startup accelerator.

Brian Akin is a senior associate at DFJ Growth. Before joining the firm, he worked as a consultant at Bain & Co., handling investment diligence of public and private technology companies. He also held a Biz Ops/Strategy role at Dapper Labs, a consumer blockchain company, where he supported the Flow ecosystem and its venture efforts.

Evan Fu is an associate at DFJ Growth. Before joining the firm, he worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, advising software, internet, and financial technology companies on capital raises and M&A. He earned a computer science degree from Dartmouth College.

Gabrielle Matulich works in an administrative role at DFJ Growth. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, which she completed in three and a half years.

Jen Kodner is the talent partner at DFJ Growth, which she joined in 2018, working with the firm's portfolio companies on identifying, attracting, and retaining talent. She has spent nearly 15 years in the talent industry managing executive searches, with prior roles as head of talent at Comcast Ventures, a partner on the executive talent team at Andreessen Horowitz, and over four years at Box building its executive search function and running recruiting through its IPO. Earlier she was a search consultant at Russell Reynolds Associates and worked in enterprise software sales; she holds a BA in telecommunications from Indiana University.

Jenni Leong joined DFJ Growth in 2022, where she works on business development, capital formation, and supporting the firm's investor base. She previously served as head of investor relations at Next Play Capital and spent 16 years at J.P. Morgan, most recently leading the Alternatives Solutions Group within its Global Alternatives business, and earlier worked as an investment analyst at GE Capital's Corporate Lending Group. She holds a BS in business administration from Bucknell University.

Johnna Lesch is the CFO at DFJ Growth, which she joined in 2018, overseeing fund tracking and firm administration. She previously spent eight years at Lightspeed Venture Partners, rising to vice president of finance, and earlier held roles as a senior accountant at MacFarlane Partners, a financial analyst at Apple's online store finance team, and an associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She holds a BS in accounting from Santa Clara University and is an inactive CPA.

Rob Ciechowski is a senior associate at DFJ Growth. Before joining the firm, he spent three years at William Blair covering the biotechnology and pharma services industries. Earlier, he worked as a research engineer at Fresenius Kabi through its joint venture ScaleReady, contributing to the development of cell processing systems for cell therapies.
