Hummer Winblad Venture Partners (HWVP)

John Hummer is a founding partner of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, which he co-founded with Ann Winblad in 1989, and has worked in venture capital since 1982. Before his investing career, he was a professional basketball player, drafted in the first round of the 1970 NBA draft and playing for the Seattle SuperSonics until 1976. He holds an AB in English from Princeton (1970) and an MBA from Stanford Business School (1980).

Lars Leckie is a Managing Director at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, which he joined in 2006, focusing on SaaS, virtualization, cloud, and mobile technologies. Before venture capital, he held founding and operational roles at startups, including co-founding AutoFarm (now Novariant), a GPS and robotics company where he handled strategy, product marketing, business development, and sales. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering and an MBA from Stanford University, along with an Engineering Physics degree from Queen's University, and is named on several US patents.

Mitchell Kertzman is a Managing Director at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners with over 30 years of experience running public and private software companies. He founded Powersoft (originally Computer Solutions) in 1974, later serving as its CEO before it merged with Sybase in 1995, and he went on to become chairman and CEO of Sybase and then chairman and CEO of Liberate Technologies. He has also held leadership roles in industry and public-policy organizations, including the Massachusetts Software Council and the American Electronics Association.

Maria Mulcahy is the CFO of Hummer Winblad and also serves as Chief Financial Officer at Aspenwood Ventures. She joined Hummer Winblad as Controller in 2018 after working as a Senior Manager at KPMG in its Venture Capital practice, and began her career with KPMG in Dublin, Ireland before relocating to the United States in 2011. She is a CPA and Chartered Accountant and holds a BSc in Finance from University College Cork.
