Investment thesis
TAF invests in commercial-ready cleantech companies and projects that reduce carbon emissions, focusing on energy efficient building solutions, clean transportation, and electricity grid modernization. It targets opportunities with large carbon reduction potential (500,000 tonnes over 20 years), proven field-tested and third-party verified technologies, and scalable, catalytic business models that benefit or have relevance in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). TAF co-invests with partners to enable larger transactions, uses flexible structures such as quasi-equity and performance contracts, and provides integrated support addressing policy, research, and financing barriers through advocacy, programs, and grants. It expects to make follow-on investments at project or enterprise level.
