Investment thesis
Okapi Venture Capital invests at the seed and early stage in information technology and life science companies. The firm was launched after a group of local business leaders pledged to back a seed and early-stage fund, closing its first fund in May 2006. The GPs each bring more than 20 years of venture capital and/or founder and tech executive experience. The firm draws an analogy between its portfolio companies and the okapi animal, noting long gestation periods, precociousness at birth, and unique characteristics that allow them to thrive in a dense competitive environment.
