Social Impact Capital operates on Khosla's 'Instigator Hypothesis' — the belief that a small number of entrepreneurs scaling world-changing technology can solve humanity's biggest problems, such as the climate crisis. The firm invests as early as possible into what it calls the 'best ideas in impact,' arguing that venture capital has over-focused on 'backyard problems' rather than grand global challenges. It funds and supports founders working on the hardest problems, backing companies across areas like covalent drug design, carbon capture, zero-emissions steel, alternative foods, and wearable medical devices.
