Investment thesis
Oxford Technology specialises in seed and early-stage investing in science and technology startups located in and around Oxford, structured through SEIS and EIS funds that give investors generous UK tax reliefs and downside protection. Its flagship three-year fund spreads subscriptions across roughly eight SEIS startups with follow-on EIS funding for high performers, while a knowledge-intensive EIS fund invests in five more mature portfolio companies. The team emphasises a science-driven selection process, highly selective deal flow (about 5 in 1,000 per year) and hands-on involvement with founders in the early years to shape business models and pricing. It also runs WOTAN, an angel network offering co-investment opportunities.
