Investment thesis
Slater is an evergreen, not-for-profit seed fund dedicated to new venture development in Rhode Island. It invests seed- and early-stage capital in software, energy, and life sciences ventures pursuing transformative technologies aimed at major world problems. Slater is frequently the first money in, often working with university-based teams commercializing research, and will lead or co-invest. Beyond capital, it partners with founders as an early ally—making customer, partner, and investor introductions, helping recruit, and providing perspective and support. Community is central: Slater hosts networking events, presentations, and panels to connect current and prospective portfolio companies with partners, investors, customers, and talent.
