Investment thesis
Rhino invests in Canadian businesses operating in overlooked and underserved markets before they become consensus. The firm is sector-agnostic, seeking companies with strong fundamentals and ambitious founders that may not fit the traditional venture mold—too early for private equity but not suited to the high-volume venture treadmill. It writes first cheques of $2M to $10M, typically investing at pre-seed to Series A, and backs builders from inception through growth. Rhino favors durable business models with a path to cash flow generation while remaining comfortable investing pre-profitability. It runs a concentrated portfolio for deeper, long-term partnership and aims for real outcomes rather than binary unicorn-or-bust bets.
