Investment thesis
Herbert invests early in exceptional founders, guided by the belief that venture outcomes are driven by people rather than industries or trends. The firm focuses on the Power Law - the idea that a small number of companies drive most returns - and aims to identify and back outlier founders before their category exists. It partners only with founder teams (no single founders) exhibiting drive, operational excellence, and a clear vision. Herbert always co-invests alongside other VCs, concentrating on the initial pre-seed or seed investment with no follow-ons, and targets European founders wherever they build. The firm emphasizes transparent communication, intellectual honesty, and a disciplined, non-hype-driven approach.
