Pedro Franceschi took sole control of Brex in June 2024, declared its turnaround over at $700 million of annualized revenue growing 50%, and sold it to Capital One for $5.15 billion in April 2026 — staying on as CEO. A Rio de Janeiro prodigy who taught himself to code at eight, he was among the early iPhone jailbreakers and reverse-engineered Nuance's speech API to make Siri understand Portuguese before Apple did. He met Henrique Dubugras through a Twitter argument in high school, co-founded the payments company Pagar.me with him at 16 and sold it to Stone, dropped out of Stanford after eight months for Y Combinator, and sits on Coupang's board.

Founded: Met Henrique Dubugras through a Twitter argument while both were Brazilian high-schoolers; they co-founded Pagar.me the next year. Franceschi co-founded Brex, a company reimagining financial systems for fast-growing businesses, launched in 2018.
