Investment thesis
Shearwater invests its own capital rather than raising outside funds, a structure it says shapes how it operates with transparency and long-term alignment. Founded by former founders in 2018, the firm prioritizes backing people first, seeking founders with integrity, ambition and clear insight who are building enduring companies. It invests at any stage — from inception and seed through Series A and beyond — and buys founder and secondary shares where it makes sense, regardless of whether it is already on the cap table. The firm has no fund horizons, preferring to compound alongside companies over time. It is industry agnostic, with particular experience in advertising, marketing, legaltech and media.
