Investment thesis
Beachhead invests in early-stage Australian companies that already have a product, team and customers, and seeks situations where it can add value beyond capital by helping shape strategy and drive growth. Most investments fall in the A$200k-A$1m range, with founders retaining majority ownership. The partners are former entrepreneurs who each built and sold their own businesses, offering complementary operating skill sets rather than a purely financial approach. Beachhead also sees opportunity in bridging the gap between good businesses looking to divest and larger corporates pursuing growth through acquisition, positioning itself to maximize value on both sides of such transactions.

4DI Ventures was co-founded by repeat tech operator and ESET Southern Africa founder Justin Stanford, giving it unusually deep cybersecurity and software operating experience rather than a purely financial background, and originated from Stanford's own angel-investing experiments that directly led to both the firm's creation and the launch of the Silicon Cape Initiative. The firm explicitly describes its style as "nurture capital" with intensive, hands-on engagement, and Stanford is vocal about avoiding the "unicorn at all costs" mentality in African tech, instead emphasizing sustainable market readiness and fundamentals in a more conservative, durability-focused investment approach.
