Ryan King is the engineer who built Chime. He co-founded America's largest digital consumer bank with Chris Britt in 2012 after a recruiter introduced them, served as its founding CTO, and grew the engineering organisation from nothing to a platform now carrying 10.4 million active members and $38 billion of quarterly purchase volume — through a June 2025 Nasdaq listing that priced at $27 and closed its first day 37% higher. He had spent a decade in consumer-internet engineering leadership before that, most notably as VP of Engineering at Plaxo, the address-book pioneer Comcast acquired, where he stayed on as a CTO in Comcast's Silicon Valley Innovation Center. He holds a master's in computer science from Stanford and a bachelor's in computer science and engineering from UCLA, and has sat on Chime's board since 2019.
