Arkin Capital

Nir Arkin joined Arkin in 2014 and leads the firm's activity in Israel's life sciences sector, following a strategy of investing in areas the team understands. He has expanded the firm's scope into real estate as well as private and public investments, and has led capital-raising efforts across its investment arms while building relationships with institutional investors. He holds an LL.B. and a B.A. in Business Administration, completed his legal internship at Shibolet & Co. focused on capital markets, and has been a member of the Israel Bar Association since 2012.

Dr. Alon Lazarus joined Arkin Bio in 2013 as a Managing Partner, where he led investments in pharmaceutical companies from early stages through U.S. public offerings and served on several portfolio company boards. Earlier in his career, he worked in the healthcare business development department of Yissum, the R&D arm of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Nadav Shimoni is Managing Partner at A² (formerly Arkin Digital Health), where he handles deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio company support. A physician by training, he previously held business development roles at Clalit Health Services and Rambam Medical Center, and worked as an associate at the medical device VC Accelmed, alongside public health research on data and AI-driven clinical solutions. He earned an M.D. from Ben-Gurion University.

Dr. Pini Orbach joined Arkin in 2010 and serves as a Managing Partner overseeing Arkin Bio Ventures and Arkin Bio Capital Funds. He has over 20 years of experience as a drug developer and investor, having incubated and backed multiple biopharmaceutical companies. Previously he was CEO of Optimata Ltd. and CytoD and worked at U.S. firms including Arisaph Pharmaceuticals and Epix Pharmaceuticals; he holds a Ph.D. in Physiology and Functional Genomics from the University of Florida and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School.

Sam Cronin is a Partner at A-Squared Ventures focusing on early-stage digital health investments. He works with founders on go-to-market strategy and product-market fit, and serves as an innovation consultant, mentor, and lecturer.

Yaniv Cohen is Managing Partner at Arkin Equity, where he oversees the Idea Hedge Fund, private equity investments, and the Arkin Foundry, having joined Arkin in 2019. He manages the Idea Hedge Fund, which uses a long-bias strategy and fundamental analysis to invest in small and mid-cap Israeli and Israel-related companies. Before Arkin, he held senior roles at Phoenix Insurance, managed Clal Insurance's policyholder stock portfolio, and worked as an analyst at Leumi Gemel and Migdal Insurance. He holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting and a Bachelor's in Economics and Management, both from Tel Aviv University.

Adar Makovski Silverstein is a Principal at Arkin Bio Ventures within Arkin Capital, focusing on life science investments. He brings experience in business development, strategy, and corporate development, alongside board service roles. His background includes scientific training and work in corporate development within the life sciences sector.

David Alterman is a Principal at Arkin (Arkin Equity), which he joined in 2020, focusing on hedge fund and private equity investments. He co-manages the Idea Hedge Fund in Israel alongside Yaniv Cohen and works with companies in Arkin Foundry, including the creation of Reches Real Estate, a joint venture with Tomer Katz. Before Arkin, he led the equities division and served as a Senior Investment Manager at Yelin Lapidot Mutual Funds, and he holds a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration and an M.A. in Financial Economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Hani Lerman is the CFO of Arkin, which she joined in 2015, where she manages cash flow, taxation, financial reporting, and the setup and operation of hedge funds and venture capital funds, and also oversees operations and IT. In Arkin's early years she was involved in evaluating and deciding on all non-pharma investments and helped build the firm's finance department. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Accounting and an MBA in Finance from Tel Aviv University, and previously held CFO roles at Sansa Security and Storwize.

Itai Arkin is Director of Global Capital Markets at Arkin, which he joined in 2014 as an analyst. He manages investments in foreign securities such as stocks, bonds, and derivatives outside Israel, and invests through external managers including hedge funds, while contributing to investment decisions in the tech sector. He holds an MBA (cum laude) in accounting and finance from Tel Aviv University and a BA (cum laude) in business administration from the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya.
