Investment thesis
OUI supports University of Oxford researchers in commercialising their work. It guides academics through capturing and protecting intellectual property via patents and other mechanisms, covering IP costs, then helps assess market potential and licensing opportunities. Where suitable, OUI negotiates licences with existing companies or helps create spinout companies to develop products based on the research. It also offers consultancy services and an incubator for non-research-based ventures. Income from commercialisation is shared between the inventor, their department and the University, with returns reinvested into further research, proof-of-concept funding, and the next generation of Oxford ventures.
