Investment thesis
Java Capital backs Indian deep tech founders at the earliest stages — idea and prototype — before a market or product exists. Founded in 2020 on the conviction that India's deep tech moment was arriving and would require patient, knowledgeable capital from the start, the fund focuses on breakthrough science and engineering where the moat is hard-to-replicate R&D rather than growth tactics. It concentrates on areas including space, defence and mobility (launch vehicles, satellites, drones, eVTOL), compute and intelligence (semiconductors, photonics, AI infrastructure), and energy/climate systems. Describing itself as thesis-driven but not thesis-limited, Java Capital typically provides seed and pre-Series A first cheques and positions itself as the first believer in frontier founders.
