Investment thesis
Gilead's research and development approach centers on pursuing transformative medicines and cures across three therapeutic areas: virology, oncology and inflammation. Drawing on a 35-plus-year track record, the company identifies best-in-class molecules, biologics, cell therapies and combinations and advances them quickly. It has helped turn public health challenges such as HIV and hepatitis C into manageable or curable conditions, and is developing therapies across viral hepatitis, SARS-CoV-2 and potential pandemic viruses. In oncology it seeks treatments offering long-term remission and cures, while in immunology it targets next-generation therapies for inflammatory and fibrotic diseases. The company set an ambition in 2019 to deliver 10-plus transformative therapies by 2030.
