Investment thesis
GHIC catalyzes the development of technologies to improve human health worldwide, focusing on strengthening global health security and addressing urgent global health challenges such as infectious disease and maternal and child health. Its namesake $108 million social impact fund (GHIF) backed twelve companies developing clinical diagnostics, devices, vaccines, and therapeutics targeting diseases that disproportionately affect low- and middle-income countries, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and cholera. In partnership with BARDA, GHIC uses venture capital investments to support technologies that respond to or prevent public health emergencies like pandemics, working alongside foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and governmental agencies.
