Investment thesis
Excellis invests in Italian founders, co-founders or key people who hold master's or PhD degrees from prestigious universities and have built research and entrepreneurial careers abroad. It targets deep-tech technologies emerging from world-class research labs, protected by strong patents and with high impact potential. The firm co-invests in pre-seed and seed startups — including those already supported by grants and research awards — that are ready to raise capital led by qualified international VCs. Its focus spans four sectors expected to shape the future: enabling technologies (edge AI, advanced computing, chips, quantum, photonics), robotics and automation, cleantech, and med-tech. Excellis aims to move quickly and co-invest alongside reputable venture funds.
