Investment thesis
The W Fund invests directly in outstanding companies with venture-return potential that are led by innovative founders from underrepresented backgrounds. It aims to make broad impact by normalizing diverse demographic composition across portfolio company employees, boards, advisors and investors; creating carry-holding 'VC-in-Residence' positions to open career paths into venture for people who lack access; and diversifying its limited partner base while providing them with investing, operating, and leadership development programming. The firm believes its next billion-dollar companies will be built by underestimated and underfunded founders.
