Previously, he served as Executive Chairman of Instructure, Inc., an educational technology company he led as CEO starting in 2010 through its 2015 IPO and subsequent sale to Thoma Bravo in 2020. His earlier career included founding Scale Eight, a scalable storage software company acquired by Intel, and Mozy (later Berkeley Data Systems), a cloud backup service that grew to over 300,000 customers before its sale to EMC in 2007.
