CitizenX backs early-stage crypto founders building blockchain infrastructure, DeFi, NFTs, and related technologies. It distinguishes 'category creators' (zero-to-one bets with asymmetric upside) from 'category subscription' plays in existing markets, favoring world-class founders. Most deal flow comes from referrals by unicorn founders it has previously backed. Post-investment, the fund devotes the majority of its time to supporting existing founders on token economics, protocol integration, and reaching product-market fit. It leverages the liquidity profile of tokens to strategically manage fund liquidity and adapts quickly to shifting crypto narratives to return capital to LPs.
