Neurable

Neurable is a neurotechnology company developing non-invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) technology that is embedded into everyday consumer devices rather than dedicated laboratory hardware. Its core product is Neurable AI, a patented compact brain-signal processing technology that combines dry EEG sensors, signal processing and machine learning to detect and interpret electrical brain activity measured at the surface of the head. Beyond headphones, the company states an intent to extend brain data applications from productivity into wellness, safety and clinical diagnostics, and has published or cited research on EEG-based focus estimation, cognitive state monitoring, office focus detection, driver drowsiness estimation and passive BCIs for non-medical applications. Founding story

Neurable was co-founded in 2015 at the University of Michigan's Direct Brain Interface Lab by a team that, on incorporation in 2016 in Ann Arbor, included Michael Thompson, Ramses Alcaide, James Hamet and Adam Molnar. CEO and co-founder Dr. Ramses Alcaide traces his motivation to his family's move from Mexico to the United States and to a tragic accident in his family that prompted his interest in technology bridging the gap between the mind and machines. The founding aim was to deliver lab-quality BCIs in the form factor and usability of mainstream consumer electronics.
