Jay Flatley led Illumina as CEO from 1999 to 2016, later serving as Executive Chairman and then Chairman of the Board, and oversaw the company's move into next-generation sequencing including its 2006 acquisition of Solexa. Earlier he co-founded and led Molecular Dynamics to its 1993 IPO and held roles at Plexus Computers, Manning Technologies, and Spectra Physics. He holds a B.A. in economics from Claremont McKenna College and B.S. and M.S. degrees in industrial engineering from Stanford University.
