About
Dr. James Allison is Regental Professor and Chair of the Department of Immunology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he also directs the Parker Institute for Cancer Research and serves as Executive Director of the Immunotherapy Platform. His research centers on the regulation of T cell responses and cancer immunotherapy, including work on the T cell receptor structure, CD28 costimulation, and CTLA-4 blockade that led to the development of ipilimumab. He received the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, shared with Dr. Tasuku Honjo, and the 2015 Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award, and is a member of the National Academies of Science and Medicine.
