About

Dr. Mung Chiang is the 18th president of Northwestern University, which is ranked No. 7 among national universities by U.S. News & World Report. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Prior to Northwestern, Chiang served as president of Purdue University, where he oversaw initiatives in student success, research, innovation, and fundraising, and previously held positions as dean of engineering and executive vice president for strategic initiatives at that institution. He spent 14 years at Princeton University as a faculty member, attaining the rank of chair professor, and holds bachelor's and master's degrees as well as a PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
