Cristina Junqueira co-founded Nubank in 2013 after running Itaú's credit-card division, bringing the regulatory and credit expertise that let a startup challenge Brazil's banking oligopoly. She led the credit-card business through the company's growth to more than a hundred million customers and its 2021 NYSE listing, becoming one of the few women to co-found a company of that scale in Latin America.
