Investment thesis
Stormbreaker invests at the early stage in companies building the software, AI, and edge intelligence layers that monetize the hundreds of billions carriers have spent on 5G infrastructure. The firm argues incumbents like AT&T and Ericsson lack the agility to build these capabilities internally, creating a narrow window for startups with domain access and distribution relationships that these players will eventually need to acquire. Its focus spans mobility and wireless, networking, IoT devices, telematics and transportation, edge compute and distributed infrastructure, private networks and Open RAN, AI-native connectivity, and industrial connectivity. Led by operator GPs who ran networks and signed enterprise contracts, Stormbreaker emphasizes proprietary deal access, operator pattern recognition, and built-in exit pathways.
