Investment thesis
The SAVCF backs innovative South Australian early-stage companies with large addressable markets, defensible competitive advantages, capital-efficient scalability, strong management teams and a clear path to liquidity. Companies must have demonstrated market validation and either revenue or a credible route to revenue, with 50% of assets and staff based in South Australia within 12 months of investment. Life science and biotech firms qualify only after Phase 1 clinical results or equivalent. The fund makes Seed investments up to $400K and Series A investments of about $2.5M, often as follow-ons, and may lead Series A rounds. Areas of interest include B2B software, space, clean energy, cybersecurity, defence, agrifood and health/medtech.
