Investment thesis
The SAVCF backs early-stage South Australian companies that have demonstrated market traction and a route to revenue, requiring investees to keep at least 50% of assets and staff in South Australia within 12 months of investment. It targets 5-10 Seed investments of up to $400K and 5-12 Series A investments of around $2.5M, often as follow-ons and sometimes leading rounds. It is sector-agnostic with interest areas including B2B software, space, clean energy, cybersecurity, defence, agrifood, and health/medtech. Life science and biotech companies are only considered after Phase 1 clinical trial results or medical-device equivalent. The fund aims for commercial returns and supports exits via M&A, trade sales, and IPOs.
