Investment thesis
Seiho Investment Works believes a VC's role goes beyond supplying risk capital: it must assess investment eligibility, help portfolio companies build sound management, generate returns commensurate with risk, and demonstrate the social and economic value of innovation. Guided by a principle of 'fairness', the firm invests hands-on in seed to early-stage technology companies nationwide across Japan, spanning healthcare/bio, consumer-facing (BtoC) IT, enterprise (BtoB) IT, and deep tech. It provides operational support from founding through maturity, drawing on decades of experience and networks built at Osaka Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation.

Born 1973; graduated from Doshisha University (Economics) and completed a master's in finance at the University of London. Spent 20 years at Osaka Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation Co., handling venture and SME investments in the Kinki region. Became Representative Director on the firm's founding in August 2017.
Graduate of Keio University (Environmental Information); a certified public accountant and tax accountant. Worked at Panasonic and a Kyoto audit firm (now PwC Japan) before founding his own tax accounting office. At the firm he leads fund management, accounting reporting, and tax matters.
Born 1963; graduated from Osaka Prefecture University (Economics). Long career at Osaka Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation Co., including roles as investment division head and director, supporting roughly 500 SMEs and startups. Joined in the current role in 2025.
Born 1981; graduated from the University of Electro-Communications (quantum physics engineering). Worked at Toshiba Information Systems on system development and project management, then became an angel investor, company representative, IT consultant, and a sourcing lead at a Singapore accelerator VC. Joined in the current role in 2023.
Graduate of the University of Tokyo (Law), with graduate degrees from Osaka Institute of Technology (IP) and the University of Washington (Law). Partner attorney at Nakanoshima Chuo Law Office; attends the firm's board/investment committee and advises the management team.
Graduate of Doshisha University (Law). Worked at Nanto Bank and Nomura Securities (investment banking) before becoming representative director of Optimus Advisors. Advises on M&A and capital alliances and participates in the firm's weekly investment meetings.
Born 1998; graduated from Waseda University (Sociology). Began his career at Osaka Gas in sales promotion, then worked in finance and back-office roles at a sales-tech startup and in business-turnaround consulting before joining in the current role in 2023.
