Investment thesis
OSS Ventures aims to 'industrialize discovery' for early-stage manufacturing startups, acting as a first co-founder to founders and a frontline partner to industry operators. The firm applies scientific rigor to the earliest, most uncertain stage of company building, validating six fundamentals: problem, user dynamics, causal mechanism, solution hypothesis, economic logic, and go-to-market mechanism. It focuses on manufacturing because the sector combines software and hardware complexity, carries the highest cost of wrong decisions, faces structural innovation barriers, and offers outsized impact when discovery is done well.
