James (Jim) Lousararian, JD, joined BioVentures Investors as Managing Director in 2017 with over 20 years of life sciences and healthcare entrepreneurship. A serial entrepreneur, he co-founded and/or led several startups including Verax Biomedical (where he remains CEO), AngioLink, Spirus, ArthroSurface, and Nursery Products, and previously held executive roles at Thermo Electron/Thermo ReTec. He holds a BBA from UMass Amherst and a JD from the University of Chicago.

Jeffrey Barnes joined BioVentures Investors in 2010 as Managing Director, bringing over 35 years of startup, operating, and investment experience in life sciences and healthcare. He previously was Managing Partner at Oxford Bioscience Partners, worked in healthcare investment banking, and held R&D and management roles at Hewlett-Packard's Medical Products Group.

Gertler joined BioVentures Investors in 2019 as a Managing Director, bringing over 35 years of scientific, clinical, entrepreneurial, and investment experience across academic medicine and life sciences. He co-founded and leads Back Bay Life Science Advisors, previously held senior roles at Leerink Swann and Adams Harkness/Canaccord Adams, and was a practicing academic vascular surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Co-founder and Managing Partner of BioVentures Investors with over 35 years of managerial and investment experience in healthcare. He previously led the Massachusetts Biotechnology Research Institute, held finance roles at Safer, Inc., began his career at Genetics Institute, and co-founded the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council. He holds an AB, JD, and MBA from Harvard.

Tony Lyons joined BioVentures Investors in 2017 as Managing Director - Investor Development, bringing over 30 years of financial and capital markets experience with a focus on capital-raising in life sciences and healthcare. He previously held roles at Harch Capital Management Group, Beanpot Financial Services, BayMount Capital Resources, and Dean Witter Reynolds.

John Osborn is a senior advisor at Hogan Lovells who brings experience as a Fortune 1000 company executive and general counsel in the life sciences industry, with expertise spanning M&A, corporate governance, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. He served at the U.S. Department of State from 1989 to 1992 under Secretary James A. Baker III and was confirmed by the Senate in 2008 as a member of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. Osborn holds academic affiliations including an affiliate professorship at the University of Washington School of Law and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Law Institute.

Co-founder of BioVentures Investors (with Marc Goldberg), forming its first fund in 1998, and currently a Venture Partner. He previously founded and led Feinstein Kean Healthcare, held a corporate communications VP role at Biogen, and co-founded the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council.

Mark M. Davis directs the Stanford Center for Human Systems Immunology and is the Avery Family Professor of Immunology. He earned a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology under Leroy Hood, followed by a postdoctoral and staff fellowship with William Paul at the NIH Laboratory of Immunology before joining Stanford. His research covers T-cell receptor genetics, peptide-MHC tetramer labeling, and systems-level study of human immune responses, and his group has developed human immune organoids from tonsil and spleen cells.
