True Anomaly

True Anomaly is a defense technology company focused on space defense, describing itself as the only such company focused exclusively on that domain. It designs and builds spacecraft, software, and payloads intended for "space superiority" missions for the U.S. government, its allies, and partners. The company was founded in 2022 by former U.S. Air Force and Space Force operators who had identified capability and intelligence gaps in U.S. space systems.

Its two principal products are Jackal, an autonomous orbital vehicle described as a multirole, modular, high-thrust, high-delta-v platform with multiple mission hardpoints for hosting sensors and effectors, and Mosaic, a software platform that translates operator intent into autonomous spacecraft action while preserving human command over mission planning. Mosaic is also used for high-fidelity simulated training through the same interface used for live operations. Jackal is described as able to maneuver in low-Earth orbit for persistent surveillance of adversary spacecraft, adversary spacecraft replication for training and test, and tactically responsive space missions, with announced plans for geosynchronous orbit and cislunar operation. The company also offers Digital Range and On-Orbit Range test and training services, and is developing an advanced payload suite spanning multiple sensing modalities.

Founding story

True Anomaly was founded in 2022 by Even Rogers and Kyle Zakrzewski. Rogers served as an Air Force space operations officer during the founding years of the U.S. Space Force, developing tactics to defend military space assets, authoring texts used as U.S. military space doctrine and training, contributing to the Space Force's capstone publication Spacepower: Doctrine for Space Forces, and serving as a Service Chiefs Fellow at DARPA. Zakrzewski was Orbital Warfare Chief of Training for the U.S. Air Force 26th Space Aggressor Squadron and previously an engineer at Ball Aerospace, Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems and Honeywell Aerospace. The company states the founding team developed its thesis while in uniform after identifying critical technology gaps in the U.S. space arsenal, and assembled a team of veterans, former civil servants, operators and engineers.

Latest developments

In April 2026 True Anomaly announced a $650 million Series D co-led by Eclipse and Riot Ventures, bringing total capital raised past $1 billion. The company said it would conduct roughly a dozen missions over the following 18 months, deliver Jackal for the Space Force's $1.8B Andromeda program, deliver Mosaic across multiple programs of record, and more than double headcount from 250 at the end of 2025 to over 500 by the end of 2026 and over 1,000 in 2028. It was named a prime contractor on the Space Systems Command Space-Based Interceptor Program (May 2026), completed Mission MX-3 (June 2026), began the VICTUS HAZE mission (June 2026) and reported it complete (July 2026), and was awarded a contract under the Space Force Kronos Advanced Battle Management Program (July 2026).
