Blackrock Neurotech was founded in 2008 by Florian Solzbacher and Marcus Gerhardt.

Florian Solzbacher Co-Founder & CSOFlorian Solzbacher holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Technical University Ilmenau and was previously Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Utah, where he also directed the Center for Engineering Innovation and held appointments in materials science and biomedical engineering. He co-founded Blackrock Neurotech alongside related ventures in neural interface technology, and has authored over 190 scientific publications and patent applications.

Marcus Gerhardt Co-Founder & CEOMarcus Gerhardt holds an MPhil from Oxford University and an MA from St. Andrews. He founded Mondus, an ecommerce platform, in 1999, established BBI to advise technology companies on funding and commercialization, and co-founded a frontier market asset manager in 2003 before becoming CEO of Blackrock Neurotech.

Thomas Thiele CFOHe has 20+ years of financial and operational experience in manufacturing and technology across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including SAP and NetSuite implementations, M&A integration, and Big Four audit work, and holds a CPA and PhD in finance.
