His research areas include cryptography, zero knowledge, pseudo-random generation, Byzantine agreement, secure protocols, mechanism design, and distributed ledgers, and he has received the Turing Award, the Gödel Prize, and the RSA prize, in addition to memberships in the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Academia dei Lincei.
