Rosalind Picard is the Grover M. Hermann Professor in Health Sciences and Technology at the MIT Media Lab and the author of the book Affective Computing. She co-founded Empatica, where she serves as Chief Scientist, and Affectiva, and her work covers wearable technology, machine learning, and methods for measuring emotion through face, voice, and physiological signals. Before joining MIT, she worked at AT&T Bell Labs designing computer chips and algorithms, and she co-founded the first IEEE Technical Committee on Wearable Computing.
