Om Malik is a San Francisco-based writer, photographer, and investor who has spent three decades in Silicon Valley as a journalist, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist. He founded the technology blog GigaOm in 2001 and, with seed funding from True Ventures, grew it into a media company and research firm, having earlier held editorial roles at Business 2.0, Forbes.com, Red Herring, and Quick Nikkei News. In 2008, following a major heart attack, he became a venture partner at True Ventures, became a full-time partner in 2014, and has since transitioned to partner emeritus, focusing on technology-trend prediction. He writes about technology, photography, and life on his personal site and is an amateur photographer and Leica enthusiast.
