Javier Suarez co-founded a unicorn and then built the company he personally needed. He started Perk — then called TravelPerk — in Barcelona in 2015 with Avi Meir and Ron Levin, all three out of Booking.com, and as chief product officer shaped the product that now carries more than 12,000 companies and over $300 million of annualised revenue. Then he did something rarer than founding a unicorn: he named its cost, speaking openly about the burnout that led him to step down, take a long recovery, and start again. In 2020 he co-founded Oliva with Sançar Sahin, a workplace mental-health platform giving employees real access to therapists and coaches; it launched with what was reported as Europe's largest seed round for a mental-health company and has raised around €13 million, including a round led by Molten Ventures. Before founding anything he was part of Booking.com's global innovation team in Amsterdam.
