Anthony Albanese is Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer of a16z crypto, where he oversees operating teams spanning legal, regulatory, policy, compliance, network governance and operations, trading operations, security, marketing/comms, and talent, and advises portfolio companies on strategy, hiring, and scaling. He previously served as chief regulatory officer of the New York Stock Exchange and as acting superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, where he issued New York's first BitLicense, and spent over a decade as a partner at Weil Gotshal specializing in securities litigation and corporate governance. He holds a JD from St. John's University School of Law and a BA from Union College, and clerked for Judge Joseph W. Bellacosa on the New York State Court of Appeals.
