Investment thesis
Volta focuses on the energy storage market, investing in battery and energy storage technologies including integration hardware and software. The firm sources, validates, and develops promising technologies through a network of innovators spanning U.S. universities and national labs (from MIT to Stanford) as well as leading universities in the U.K., Germany, Japan, and China. A research contract with Argonne National Laboratory supports validation of technologies from any source. Volta combines technologists who lead early-phase evaluation of a technology's physics and engineering with financial analysts who assess business models, connecting promising energy-storage innovators with select corporate investors to deliver returns for all parties.
