Investment thesis
GREE Ventures pursues a dual strategy of investing directly in startups and in venture capital funds (fund-of-funds). Carrying forward GREE's founding mission of improving the world through the internet and the startup ecosystem, the firm commits to developing the venture ecosystem and creating world-changing startups. Its startup investment arm, active since 2014, backs seed/early-stage and pre-IPO companies across IT broadly, writing checks of roughly 10-100 million yen. Its fund investment arm, active since 2010, commits to domestic Japanese funds ranging from promising first-time funds to large established managers, and also invests in funds in the US.
