Investment thesis
Courtyard Ventures is an MBA-led fund focused on early-stage startups coming out of UC Berkeley, backing visionary founders across diverse sectors including AI, deep tech, healthcare, and sustainability. It leverages its embedded position within Berkeley's innovation ecosystem to access cutting-edge technology and talent at the earliest stages. Beyond capital, it offers portfolio companies access to Berkeley's talent pipeline, introductions to later-stage investors, and strategic guidance from experienced founders and MBA talent. The firm reinvests half of its GP carry into campus groups supporting startups, and gives LPs early exposure to Berkeley's most promising companies before they reach the broader market.
